What is a Mortgage Planner?

Mortgage Planner is a term that has only recently come to be used. As such it is probable that it means different things to different people. To us it simply denotes a professional approach to assisting Clients by blending the best that a Mortgage Broker and a Financial Planner can offer - with regards to reducing debt and minimising interest costs without the disempowering focus on 'product sales' so prevalent elsewhere in financial services.

While our Mortgage Planners tend to offer a broader service, the fact that we can offer independent advice and assistance causes some industry commentators to group us into a similar category as Pro Consumer Brokers or Borrowers Agents.

What is Independence?

Independence has three very important connotations for us: 

  • It is testament to the fact that our Mortgage Planners do not receive commissions from Lenders and are therefore able to act solely in your best interests as they are free from 'commission conflict'.
  • It enshrines the fact that we are not owned or controlled by Institutions nor are we influenced by the Bank-dominated Aggregators & Industry groups.
  • It promotes to consumers that they are dealing with an independently-owned and operated business that does not have any constraints on the Products it can access on your behalf.

About Independent Mortgage Planners - the Company

Independent Mortgage Planners Pty Ltd is one of only a handful of finance professionals in Australia who meet the criteria necessary to be able to claim to be independent, impartial and unbiased.  In fact to date we are aware of only one or two other businesses that can legally make this claim.

Our service is similar to that offered by pro consumer Mortgage Brokers except that we always rebate 100% of any available commission entitlement whereas other companies may only rebate part.

We are also similar to Borrowers Agents in that we are working for you, the Borrower, and not for the Lender.  The advantage we have over the very small number of Borrowers Agents in the marketplace is that we are still often entitled to Lender commissions - but we take those commission entitlements and rebate 100% back to you.
